Cutter Canvas

Frequently Asked Questions

Last updated: 13 August 2026

Do I need a 3D printer to use Cutter Canvas?

No. You can export a ready-to-print STL file yourself if you own a printer, or use “Order Printed & Shipped” and we’ll print and ship the cutter to you.

Is Cutter Canvas free to use?

Uploading your own SVG and exporting the STL file are always free. AI features — photo tracing, theme ideas, and icing designs — use credits. New accounts get free credits to start, and there’s no subscription; you only buy more credits if you use them up.

What file do I get, and is my design uploaded anywhere?

A ready-to-print binary STL file, generated entirely in your browser. Your design is never uploaded anywhere unless you choose to submit an order for a printed cutter.

Are the printed cutters food-safe?

Cutters are printed in Bambu Lab PLA. As with any 3D-printed item, layer lines can harbour bacteria: a cutter is safe to handle and intended for cutting dough only. It is not dishwasher-safe, not microwave-safe, and should not be used to cut or serve ready-to-eat food. Hand wash in cool water with mild soap immediately after use and dry thoroughly. See our Terms of Service for the full printed-cutter terms.

How accurate are the dough and icing quantity numbers?

They’re estimates from your cutter’s geometry and typical recipe densities. Real results vary with your recipe, thickness, and technique — check them against your own bake before quoting a customer. See our dough & icing calculator guide for how the numbers are computed.
